Rosing’s jewels are handmade in Denmark, in order to be able to guarantee the high quality of the pieces. The diamonds are from conflict-free sources, the gold is recycled whenever possible, and the cultured pearls are bought from ethical suppliers. Our goldsmiths are always on standby to make a special engraving on a select piece. Engravings are one of the oldest techniques used for decoration; lines carved or cut in various depths of the precious metals lend a shadow effect to the piece. Engravings are either done by hand or by laser. Hand engravings may look more poetic with a certain vintage feel, whereas a laser engraving is more precise and executed a bit deeper in to the metal. Only laser is used for the tiniest of engravings.
An engraving is either placed on the inside or outside of a ring. An inside engraving is more discrete, and it will not be subjected to wear and tear, as it most often happens with the surface of a ring. However, if a ring needs a size alteration, an engraving will usually be lost. The upside of an outside engraving is the decorative potential. For that reason, outside engravings are usually made with more depth.
